HOULTON — The Maine Water Utilities Association (MWUA), of which the Houlton Water Company has been a member since 1925, recently announced at their Feb. 9 meeting and trade show that Houlton Water Company’s water/wastewater Superintendent Brian McGuire was selected for the association’s prestigious Jeff Nixon Award.
The honor, named after the former assistant general manager of the Portland Water District, is bestowed annually to a Maine water utility employee for having a distinguished career in the water utility industry.
To be eligible for the recognition, the individual must have made outstanding contributions to the water works profession, must have provided reliable, quality service and care, and respected fellow employees, customers and the community.
The past year has been very eventful for the entire HWC staff. In February 2015 they were notified that they had won the MWUA Excellence Award, and in August 2015 they were announced the winner of the New England Water Works Utility of the Year Award.
