In rollover accident on Route 11
MASARDIS, Maine — The driver and three children escaped injury Monday morning when the vehicle they were riding in went off the road and rolled over on Route 11 in Masardis.
Richard Okulski, 48, of Caribou was southbound on the roadway in his 2011 Toyota RAV4 when at about 8:30 a.m. he lost control of the vehicle rounding a sharp turn on the snow- and ice-covered pavement, according to Maine State Police Cpl. Chuck Michaud.
The vehicle left the road and rolled over before coming to rest on its roof, Michaud said in a statement released Monday.
The corporal said Okulski was driving too fast for the road conditions. The driver and his three juvenile passengers, who all were wearing seat belts, were not injured in the crash, according to Michaud.
Route 11 was closed for about 15 minutes while the vehicle was removed.
