Spring blood drive

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host its annual spring semester American Red Cross Blood Drive Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 from 12-5 p.m. in the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room.

Open to the campus and community. Door prizes will be given away. To reserve a time, donors should call 1 (800) RED-CROSS or sign up at www.redcrossblood.org by clicking on “Search by Zip Code” and entering 04769.

The blood drive is sponsored by the Dean of Students Office, the Sisters of Kappa Delta Phi NAS, and Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society.

Planet Head Day

UMPI will host the 10th annual Planet Head Day Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 from 11 a.m-2 p.m. in Wieden Gymnasium. This is the major fundraising event for Caring Area Neighbors for Cancer Education and Recovery (C-A-N-C-E-R), an Aroostook County-based organization that assists cancer patients and their families.

Participants are invited to have their heads painted as celestial bodies. Some will get their heads shaved, or “bald” caps will be available as a less permanent option.
