HOULTON, Maine — A southern Aroostook man suffered several cuts to his hand when he hit a moose Wednesday night on Route 2A in Forkstown Township.
Michael Kiernan, 60, of Haynesville didn’t see the moose as he was driving his 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo east on the highway at 8:20 p.m., according to a news release issued by the Maine State Police.
When the car struck the moose, the animal went up over the hood and into the windshield, breaking it and damaging the roof, according to Cpl. Dennis Quint.
The officer reported Kiernan was wearing a seat belt and that his injuries were not life-threatening. A family member brought him to Houlton Regional Hospital.
