Major Delbert “Del” Clarence Belanger (Retired), age 75, of Plano, Texas, passed away on February 4, 2016.

He was born June 5, 1940, in Caribou, Maine to Albert and Laura (Banville) Belanger. Del served as a CH-47 “Chinook” and UH-1 “Huey” helicopter pilot in the United States Army. He retired after twenty-one years of service with three and a half of those years spent in Vietnam.
He is survived by wife, Carolyn Belanger of Plano, Texas; children, Greg Gatlin and wife Lynda of Richardson, Texas, Melissa Wampler and husband David of Kerrville, Texas, Steve Deshane and wife Charlene of Hartford, Connecticut, Julie Petaros and husband Dion of Lakewood Village, Texas; grandchildren, Blake Wampler of Kerrville, Texas, Cassidy Gatlin of Richardson, Texas and Ava Wampler of Kerrville, Texas; brothers, Don Belanger and wife Mary of Ocala, Florida, Bob Belanger of Duncanville, Texas, Mike Belanger of Windsor, Connecticut, Gary Belanger of Caribou, Maine; sister, Patricia Peterson and husband Linwood of New Sweden, Maine; “Dad”, Gerard Belanger of Caribou, Maine; many other loving family members and friends.
Del is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Laura Belanger; brother, Richard Belanger; son, Dean Belanger; and “Mom”, Azilda Banville-Belanger.
A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 12 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6-8: p.m., Thursday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
