HOULTON — Marjorie Lee Sue Cassidy, died in Houlton, ME. She was diagnosed with metastatic carcinoid cancer in 2002. Her words “It has been a long journey.”

She was born in Tewksbury, MA the daughter of Mildred Carr Eagers Oliver and Fred Elias Dowaliby. Sue attended Amity Grade School, Ricker Classical Institute for one year and graduated from Freehold Regional High School in Freehold, New Jersey in the class of 1959. She also attended Eastern Maine General Hospital School of Nursing for two years. She took many college courses during her working career. She worked at Grossman’s for three years, leaving there to go to work at A.E. Staley MFG Co/Tate & Lyle. She retired from there in 2002 due to illness. She was known to some at Staley’s as “Mother Sue”, she was very fond of that title and some of those “boys” never left her all during her illness. They were extremely good to her. Sue loved her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, the stock market, the lake camp, the Red Sox and the Patriots, living, and just life itself.

She is survived by three children, son Mark Daniel Cassidy of Lake Wylie, SC, granddaughter Shandra Cassidy and great-grandsons, Landon Daniel Trotter and Gage Joshua Covarrubias of SC, daughter Colleen Joanne Goodall of Plymouth, MA, son-in-law Kenneth, granddaughter Alyssa Irene, grandsons Colby Lee and Parker James and son Brent Michael Cassidy of Houlton. She also leaves behind her sister Ruth Oliver Stewart, brother-in-law Avon, nephews Avon, Jered and family and Darren and family, a niece Ruth and nephew Mickey and their families; a very special sister-in-law, Linda Russell Cassidy, also Linda Hannigan and Lois Cassidy; and many nieces and nephews on the Cassidy side of the family. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Harold E. Cassidy, twin sons Timothy and Anthony, her sister Joanne Eagers Crawford and husband Walter (Mickey) Crawford, nephew Douglas Crawford, and a “special brother” Louis (Buddy) Albert who was killed in the Vietnam War.

Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 at the Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church, Houlton with the Rev. David Raymond celebrant. A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall. A spring interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Houlton.
