BLAINE – Wendell F. Pierce, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Blaine on February 8, 2016. He was born in Blaine, the son of C. Hume and Madeline Pierce.

Wendell was probably best well known as the owner and developer of the Big Rock Ski Area and the Mars Hill Wind Farm. An innovative entrepreneur, he ran with a vision and provided a lifetime of recreation for the enjoyment of area families. Early in his career, Wendell tried his hand at farming and later went to work for Sears and Roebuck in Presque Isle where he worked 25 years. His time at Sears led to many lasting friendships. As a land developer, Wendell was an honorary member of the International Appalachian Trail Club. Wendell was proud of his civic contributions and participated in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and was a 65 year member of the Masons and a Shriner.

Gramp/Dad was much loved by his family and the richness of experience he brought to all of our lives will be missed.
