FORT KENT, Maine — The final leg of the Aroostook League championships for skiing was held Feb. 8, 2016 and the Caribou boys and Madawaska girls were victorious.

Freestyle Nordic skiing was the discipline and the Vikings scored 25 points to just hold off the host Warriors, which had 29, for the top spot. The Owl girls had a more comfortable win, tallying 24 points. They were 13 better than second-place Caribou and 15 ahead of third-place Presque Isle.

Max Bartley of the Wildcats took the individual title in 14:53. David Roy of Fort Kent was second in 15:17 and Riley McDuffie of Caribou was third in 15:23.

In the team results, after Caribou and Fort Kent in order were Madawaska (62), Ashland (71), Presque Isle (80) and Fort Fairfield (97).

MSSM did not figure in the team standings, but Paddy Keith-Hardy was 11th in 16:37. Thomas Krause of the Tigers placed 18th in 17:13.

Ciara Richards of Caribou was second for girls.

Fort Kent won the overall team titles. PI and Caribou were second and third, respectively, for both boys and girls.
