Eagle Lake woman sent to EMMC
following weekend crash
NASHVILLE PLANTATION, Maine — An Eagle Lake woman and her two passengers were hospitalized after she lost control of the vehicle she driving and struck a utility pole Saturday afternoon, according to a Maine State Police news release.
Michelle Labbe, 52, of Eagle Lake was driving a 2011 Dodge Durango north along Route 11 in Nashville Plantation shortly before 4 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle on a slushy stretch of road, crossed the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to news release. Speed was not a factor in the crash.
All three occupants were transported to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle for treatment.
Labbe, who sustained “serious injuries” in the crash, according to police, was subsequently transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, a TAMC spokesperson said Monday.
Her passengers, Marie Leblanc, 55, and Joseph Davis, 74, both of Fort Kent, also sustained injuries in the crash, according to police. Both were treated at TAMC and then released, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Officials from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and Ashland police and fire departments also responded to the crash, the release stated.
Emera Maine reported that the accident knocked out power to about 1,900 customers in the area, including Portage and Caribou. Line crews have since repaired the pole and restored service.
The crash remains under investigation.
