HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Basketball Association once again invited the Women’s League teams to participate during the second annual All-Star Extravaganza on Feb. 6, 2016 at the Houlton Recreation Department.

After the game invitation decline of the team “Hoops, We Did it Again” many of the other players re-grouped and developed two new teams, with different names and teammates. The Women’s League exhibition game turned out to be quite an evenly matched game, regardless of the early-minute jitters.

Trigger Happy defeated Team Boom 49-46.

Audrey Violette came ready to play ball, as she scored the first 10 points for the Trigger Happy squad. She helped lead her team to a 23-18 halftime advantage, as a result. Kaylea Harbison, Olivia McNally and Tanika Toby were the only other players for the Trigger Happies to score during the first half.

Violette, the former 1,000 point scorer from SA Warriors scored 12 of the team’s total 23 points during the first 20 minutes. Team Captain Lacey Farrar pulled her troops together and battled from behind to contend for the win in the second half of playing time, and Team Boom actually outscored their opponents 28-24 and just came up short.

Each of the Team Boom players were able to get in the scoring column, but Whitney Souers of the Lincoln area showed no limits, scoring a game high 30 points, hitting a game high five 3-pointers.

Farrar showed why she was in charge as she distributed the ball well, collecting a game high six assists. McNally once again performed well after being acknowledged as the 2015 Women’s Most Outstanding Player, and shot four for four from the foul line.

Violette was the only player to achieve a double double, finishing with 18 total points, 10 rebounds, one assist and a block. McNally added 18 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Harbison was the only Trigger Happy player to attempt a 3-pointer, and finished with seven points and five assists. Souers finished with 30 points, five rebounds, three steals and an assist; Kay Fleming added eight points, six rebounds, one block and a steal.
