HONORED FOR SERVICE — Presque Isle Historical Society Board President Craig Green presents Vice President Ann Cushman with a plaque recognizing her as the society’s director of the year.
A plaque was presented to her at the Feb. 18 quarterly meeting of the historical group’s board of directors. The Director of the Year award is voted on by all board members via secret ballot, and is presented annually at the February meeting.
Cushman was selected for her volunteer efforts on behalf of the society. In addition to serving as the vice president of the board for numerous years, she attends or volunteers at almost all of the 40-plus events and programs held by the organization every year and donates countless hours of genealogical research in order for new presentations on topics of local historical interest to be prepared.
Cushman, who works at Cary Medical Center, is also very involved in a number of other organizations including the Aroostook Genealogical Society, Maine Genealogical Society, New England Historic Genealogical Society, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Maine Old Cemetery Association, General Society of Mayflower Descendants, Maine Historical Society, and Grant Memorial United Methodist Church. She also volunteers at the Mark and Emily Turner Memorial Library.
The Presque Isle Historical Society, an all-volunteer, nonprofit corporation, was founded in 1963. Its mission is to study, promote and preserve the history, culture, heritage and artifacts of Presque Isle for present and future generations.
