HWC super retires, Hogan takes helm

HOULTON — The Houlton Water Company (HWC) recently announced the retirement of longtime Superintendent Timothy “Tim” Peters, and the appointment of Will Hogan as his replacement.

Peters retired effective Jan. 31 after a successful 45-year career as plant superintendent. During that time, under his guidance, the plant has been meticulously maintained, upgraded and honored for Excellence in Operations by the federal Environmental Protection Agency.

Because of the design, construction, maintenance and operation of the wastewater plant, the Meduxnekeag River water quality has vastly improved, said HWC officials, adding that both HWC and the community have been fortunate to have had him as superintendent.

Hogan was appointed to replace Peters as the wastewater plant superintendent effective Feb. 1. Hogan has a bachelor of science degree in business from the University of Maine at Presque Isle and a grade three operator’s license.

He has been with HWC for 16 years and has been senior plant operator for the last six years. Company staff wished him success in his new position.
