WASHBURN NEWS
By Beth Boddy
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, and because of that the children at Washburn District Elementary School made their annual dental health posters.
The kids did a great job coming up with some wonderful and creative posters. The kindergarten students participated in Dental Health Month by posting calendars on a school bulletin board, where they would place a star for every day they brushed their teeth.
The August Fest committee currently consists of about four members. As a result, the events are going to have to be scaled back due to a lack of volunteers and commitment to the event.
The Alumni Banquet will still be on Friday, and there will probably be a parade and fireworks. Beyond that, the committee is still looking at what they can handle. While there is a template of events, money has to be raised and volunteers are needed to keep things going.
Anyone interested in helping out or joining the committee is encouraged to come to the next meeting, which will be March 2 at 7 p.m. at the Washburn Recreation Center. See the Washburn August Festival Facebook page for more information.
