Party officials in northern Maine have established dates, times and places for their caucuses to help choose the next president of the United States. There will also be other candidates running for office. Voters can also sign petitions to help them qualify for the ballot, and hear speeches from party leaders at the local, state and federal levels.
Republican Party
The Maine Republican Party has listed the times and locations for its caucuses to be held Saturday, March 5, around the state. There are 22 unique, regional sites to cast votes in the Maine Republican 2016 Caucus to help choose the next president.
Aroostook County has three caucus sites:
— 8 a.m. at University of Maine at Fort Kent, 23 University Drive, for Allagash, Cyr Plantation, Eagle Lake, Fort Kent, Frenchville, Grand Isle, Hamlin, Madawaska, New Canada, New Sweden, St. Agatha, St. Francis, St. John Plantation, Stockholm, Van Buren, Wallagrass, Westmanland and Winterville Plantation.
— Noon at Northern Maine Community College, 33 Edgemont Drive, Presque Isle, for Ashland, Blaine, Caribou, Castle Hill, Caswell, Chapman, Easton, Fort Fairfield, Garfield Plantation, Limestone, Mapleton, Masardis, Mars Hill, Nashville, Perham, Portage, Presque Isle, Wade, Washburn, Westfield and Woodland.
