Limestone to update Trafton Lake rules

LIMESTONE, Maine — The town of Limestone’s Selectpeople will vote to approve new rules for Trafton Lake regarding the usage of ATVs on the campground during their Wednesday, March 2 meeting at the town office at 6:30 p.m. The proposed rules may apply to golf carts in addition to four-wheelers, dirt bikes, and other all-terrain vehicles.

Selectpeople spoke with Game Warden Ed Christie about the issue during their Feb. 17 meeting, but did not make a final decision about whether or not these vehicles should be permitted on the property. The Trafton Lake Committee discussed the matter during their Feb. 25 meeting.

One major concern voiced during the last Selectpeople’s meeting is that, since the town of Limestone owns Trafton Lake, they are liable for any injuries resulting from an ATV accident or other mishap.
