BROWN, Malcolm E., 83, MAPLETON, February 28, 2016. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Southside Cemetery in Mapleton. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
MAPLETON – Malcolm E. Brown, 83, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, at home following a short illness. Malcolm was born November 18, 1932, in Mapleton, the son of Coleman and Madeline (Maynard) Brown.
He graduated in 1950 from Mapleton High School and the University of Maine in 1952. He farmed 35 years in Mapleton and served in the Maine National Guard from 1955-1964.
Malcolm served on the Mapleton Planning Board for several years, also the Maine Potato Council and the Agway Store Committee. He served a term on the National Potato Board (1983-86). He worked as a crop consultant for Agway for 3 years, then went to work for the University of Maine at the Aroostook Research Farm. He retired as Superintendent of the farm in 2001.
He had great memories of the past 60 years of times spent at the hunting camp at McKeen Crossing with some very special friends.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Claudene (Lint) Brown; his son, Timothy and his children, Cole, Shea, Jessie and Haddee; nieces, Carol Flynn (Brian), Candy Weymouth (Terry); and nephew, Marc Brown (Glenda). He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Coleman, and sister-in-law, Margaret.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Southside Cemetery in Mapleton. A reception will follow services at the Chapman Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club.
