The Maine State Police Troop F in Houlton investigated the following incidents from Sunday, Feb. 21 to Sunday, Feb. 28.
Sunday, Feb. 21
Cpl. Quint issued a criminal summons to a woman reported by U.S. Border Patrol agents to be unresponsive while parked on the I-95 Oakfield on-ramp. Cpl. Quint arrived and the woman was conscious and alert. She said she transports people’s pets and was on her way to New Brunswick with three dogs. The woman said she never saw any Border Patrol Agent and had stopped to call her husband before crossing the international border. A check determined the woman is wanted in Arizona for traffic offenses (no extradition) and currently has a suspended driver’s license in Connecticut. She was summonsed for operating without a license and her vehicle was towed.
Monday, Feb. 22
Trooper Adam Stoutamyer responded to a report of a burglary on the Thompson Settlement Road in Oakfield. The complainant lives in Connecticut and was contacted by his neighbor in Oakfield. The victim responded from Connecticut and looked through the residence to find nothing disturbed except a missing handgun. Investigation is ongoing.
Sgt. Clark and Trooper Levesque assisted Presque Isle police with an investigation into arson. Trooper Levesque and K9 “Vitz” began tracking the suspect from the scene. Sgt. Clark located the female walking on the snowmobile trail a few miles from the residence, detained her, and brought her to the police station, where she was arrested. The woman admitted to starting the fire, twice, inside the residence.
Trooper Sylvia began investigating two separate propane tank thefts from camps in Glenwood Plt. The cases remain under investigation.
Tuesday, Feb. 23
Trooper Endre stopped a motor vehicle for speeding on Benjamin Street in Mars Hill. The female driver was out on bail with search and test. During the search a small baggie of pills were found as well as drug paraphernalia and marijuana. A K9 sniff of the vehicle was administered where more paraphernalia was located. A passenger was summonsed for marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The owner of the pills could not be determined. Sgt. Fuller with K9 Glenni, Trooper Stoutamyer and Cpl. Quint assisted in the stop.
Tr. Endre stopped a motor vehicle on East Ridge Road in Mars Hill for not having plate lights. The male operator was driving with a suspended license. The operator was summonsed for operating after suspension.
Thursday, Feb. 25
Cpl. Michaud investigated a shoplifting complaint in Mars Hill. Two young males were caught on camera stealing candy from the IGA. Cpl. Michaud located the two 13-year-olds; both confessed and returned the candy. They were not charged at the storeowner’s request, but warned not to return.
Friday, Feb. 26
Trooper Marquis investigated a complaint in Portage where an Ashland man reported being threatened and harassed by a Mapleton man when they worked together at a mill in Portage. The man was served a cease harassment notice.
Cpl. Michaud charged a 24-year-old Washburn man for operating after suspension after stopping him for a loud exhaust violation in Caribou.
Trooper Darcy charged a 37-year-old Patten man with operating after suspension as the result of a traffic crash in Sherman. The male and female both left the scene. Trooper Darcy located the female walking up the road highly intoxicated and located the male several hours after the crash. There was minor damage in the crash.
Trooper Darcy charged a 43-year-old Stacyville man with criminal trespass after he returned to the Sherman Irving. The man was issued a trespass notice by Trooper Saucier several weeks ago.
While conducting a probation check roadside, Trooper Darcy observed a man drive by him who has a suspended driver’s license. Trooper Darcy went to his residence in Stacyville and no one would come to the door. The man will be charged with operating after suspension when located.
Trooper Sylvia was called to Weston for a report of an unoccupied vehicle off the road. He responded and located a purse in the car with an ID and also inside the purse was meth. Trooper. Sylvia was unable to immediately locate the female operator, but found her on Feb. 27 and charged the 48-year-old Danforth woman with possession of meth.
Saturday, Feb. 27
Trooper Sucy investigated a threatening complaint in Hodgdon. The man stated he asked for some repairs on his rented trailer and his landlord threatened to kill him and his family, run him off the road, and cut the brake lines of his vehicle. Trooper Sucy met with the complainant and the claims of violence are exaggerated. Trooper Sucy is continuing his investigation.
Sunday, Feb. 28
Trooper Saucier arrested a 41-year-old Island Falls man on an outstanding warrant.
Trooper Sylvia arrested a 37-year-old Haynesville man on an outstanding warrant.
