In an effort to fight hunger in Maine, Bangor Savings Bank will be collecting jars of peanut butter and jelly during the month of March to benefit local food pantries and statewide hunger relief programs. Donations of any size or type of peanut butter and jelly can be made at any of the 57 Bangor Savings Bank branch locations in Maine.
“Last year we collected over 10,000 jars of peanut butter and jelly. Our goal is to increase this amount in 2016 so that more families will have access to a protein-rich, nonperishable food that will make a big difference in their daily lives,” said Lisa Bird, assistant vice president and community relations officer at Bangor Savings Bank.
Bangor Savings is encouraging those dropping off donations to take a “selfless selfie” while at the Bank branch and emailing it to socialmedia@bangor.com. For each selfie received, Bangor Savings will donate an additional two jars to the food drive. The photos will also be shared on the Bangor Savings Bank Facebook page.
