Red boys, Blue girls win County all-star games

Proceeds benefited Aroostook League Scholarship fund

     CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou’s Donovan Savage closed out the 26th annual Aroostook County Senior All-Star Game by hitting five consecutive three-point shots to finish with a game-high 28 points for Team Red on his home floor in a 122-98 victory over the Team Black March 1.

          For Team Black, Tyson Porter of Katahdin totaled a team-best 18 points, while Garrett Ring of Houlton had 15 and Jarrett Olson of Washburn contributed 14.Jimmy Buzzell of Hodgdon and Logan Halvorson of Easton fired in 21 and 19 points, respectively, for the winners.

     In the girls’ contest, Alexis Levesque of Madawaska tallied 15 points to lead a balanced Team Blue attack in an 83-62 victory over Team Pink. Emmy Churchill of Washburn and Rhylee Wright of Wisdom each scored 14, while Presque Isle teammates Taylor Williams and Olivia Hudson had 10 and nine, respectively, for Team Blue.

     Leading the way for Team Pink were Molly Cunningham of Katahdin and Chelsey Pelkey of Fort Fairfield, who both netted 14 points. Jenna Boucher of Caribou added 12.

     The Maine Dance Academy provided halftime entertainment at both games. Proceeds from the all-star games, held annually at Caribou High School, benefit the Aroostook League Scholarship Fund. Last year, the Aroostook League presented $4,000 in scholarships to graduating student-athletes.
