HOULTON — Officials with the Health Services Foundation have announced the winners of the organization’s recent fundraiser — the 15th annual Diamond Raffle.
Jim Brown of Houlton won the top prize of a diamond ring. Second prize of Moissanite necklace and cash went to Brenda Bailey of Ludlow and third prize of flowers, chocolates and a gift card went to Kathy Ledger of Amity.
“We raised an amazing $6,500 in a very fast paced seven week event,” explained Elizabeth Dulin, executive director for the foundation. “This was a shorter timeframe than usual for the Foundation with ring design and distance working with Walter Goodrich being a little longer than anticipated. However, it was worth the wait as the ring was absolutely stunning.”
Despite the fact the Goodrich closed his jewelry store and moved out of state, he has continued to support the Foundation’s diamond raffle fundraiser.
“We plan to continue this fabulous fundraiser and perhaps have some wonderful new twists for next year so stay tuned to what those just might be,” Dulin said. “Financial support of all Foundation work concerning the best in local health care is so very important.
In the last 15 years, the fundraiser has brought in more than $130,000 to help the Foundation in assisting local health care efforts with state-of-the-art equipment, investing in capital projects, and more.
“When anyone needs services of the hospital, ambulance, fire department rescues, other health care facilities, we need to be sure we are able to assist, to the very best of our financial ability, when called upon,” Dulin said. “The extreme generosity of our communities is exactly why we are able to do so much because our communities do so much for us.”
Proceeds from this year’s event will be used toward the purchase of the coagulation instrument for the Radiology department. Anyone wishing more information, have questions or wish to make a donation to a Foundation project/program please call 207-521-2147 or visit www.healthservicesfoundation.org.
