Art Walk to feature Color PI 5K photos
PRESQUE ISLE — The Wintergreen Arts Center and the University of Maine at Presque Isle are celebrating Color Presque Isle 5K race photography during the upcoming April 1 First Friday Downtown Art Walk with a special exhibit and a chance to win free race registration.
The exhibit, “Color Captured,” will be displayed at Wintergreen from 6-8 p.m., featuring the work of local photographers — Dave Allen Graphics, Lasting Moments Photography, Peter Freeman Photography, and Sha-Lam Photography — who captured the first three Color Presque Isle 5K races. Members of the public are also invited to bring in their race photos to be judged for a chance to win a free early registration for the 2016 race.
Early registration for the 2016 Color Presque Isle 5K race will be available to everyone who visits the Wintergreen Arts Center during the April 1 event. The cost is $30.00, and the first 250 people to pre-register will get free T-shirts at the Aug. 27 event.
“This is the very first opportunity to pre-register for the 2016 race,” said Kim Guerrette Michaud, Wintergreen co-chairman, “The race is presented by UMPI and the Wintergreen Arts Center, and it is a fun chance for people to get covered in color while helping us to raise money for downtown arts programming.
“Please join us on April 1. The photos say it all,” she added.
People are invited to enter up to three photographs (8 x 10 each) to be judged. Photos must be delivered to the center, located at 149 State St., no later than Monday, March 28.
For more information, call Guerrette Michaud at 227-6784 or kim.guerrettemichaud@mmgins.com.
The 5K, which will mark its fourth year in August, is a benefit event that combines fun, fitness, and the arts. The race will get under way Saturday, Aug. 27, at 9 a.m. at Riverside Park in Presque Isle. All proceeds support arts programming in downtown Presque Isle.
