HOULTON — Laura M. Snell, 80, died March 17, 2016 in Houlton with her family at her side. She was born April 10, 1935 in Houlton, the daughter of James and Roxie (Sewell) McAfee.
Laura loved to make and decorate cakes. She was a member of TOPS #153 and the Court Street Baptist Church, where she ran the nursery for several years. She retired as a Maine State Employee after 27 years. Laura enjoyed and loved her family dearly.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda and Richard Sullivan of Houlton and Susan and Galen White of Houlton; six grandchildren, Wayne, Phillip, Virginia, Shannon, Jessica and Derrick and nine great-granchildren; one sister, Judy and Harold Fitzpatrick of Littleton; and three brothers, David and Judy McAfee of Augusta, Kenneth and Darlene McAfee of Littleton and Rick and Karlene Strout of Skowhegan; and many neices nephews and cousins. She was predeased by her parents and seven brothers, Phillip, Orin, John, Donald, Dana, Albert and Clarence and two sisters, Phyllis and Nonie.
Friends called 6-8 p.m. Tuesday March 22 at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street Houlton. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday. at Court St. Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Ashley Officiating. Interment will be in the Ludlow Cemetery.
