Members of RSU 39 adult education’s quilting class recently kept on quilting between semesters, and presented quilted lap robes to Cary Medical Center’s Jefferson Cary Cancer Center. From left are Dr. Regan Gallagher, Cary CMO and center director; Ruby Bradbury; Freda Mosley; Jenn Plant, cancer center nurse manager; Bernadette Opthof; and Pat Rossignol. Seated is Judy Holmquist.

A number of quilting class students had a desire to continue quilting after the fall adult ed class ended and the spring class began, and decided to make lap-robe-size quilts from donated fabrics for the new Jefferson Cary Cancer Center at Cary Medical Center.

The quilts will be gifts for individual patients receiving care at the facility. A total of 36 quilts were presented to Dr. Regen Gallagher, chief medical officer at Cary and cancer center administrator, and Jen Plant, RN, the center’s nurse manager.

Sharon Pelletier, RN, who works in the cancer clinic, helped to make the connection between the quilting group and the hospital. Judy Babbidge is the instructor of the adult education quilting class.
