NMCC students are Maine all-stars

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine Two Northern Maine Community College students are receiving $500 scholarships and have been named to the All-Maine Academic Team for two-year colleges.Crystal Condo and Amanda Eivers, both of Presque Isle, were honored March 23, 2016, during a ceremony at the Senator Inn in Augusta. The Maine Community College System Board of Trustees hosted the event, which honors two students from each of Maine’s community colleges.

    Condo is enrolled in NMCC’s Health Information Management program. She has a 3.75 grade point average, volunteers as an advocate for the homeless and has been involved in several on-campus fundraisers. A mother of two, she plans to continue her education to become a registered health information administrator.
Eivers is enrolled in the nursing program and previously earned her bachelor’s degree in business. She plans to enter the workforce when she graduates while completing her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing. She is currently the president of the college’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and maintains a 4.0 grade point average.
“Amanda and Crystal represent the best of Northern Maine Community College: their commitment and work ethic are outstanding,” said Dean of Students William Egeler. “The College is very proud of their leadership and example. They are most deserving of this prestigious honor.”
The All-Maine Academic Team is a program of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for two-year colleges. Students are nominated and selected for the team by their college based on outstanding academic achievement, leadership and service.
