Troop F Report

The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton investigated the following local complaints from Tuesday, March 22 to Sunday, March 27, 2016.

Tuesday, March 22

Cpl. Michaud, Trooper Casavant and Sgt. Haines responded to the Turner Rd in Castle Hill for a report of two masked men breaking into a woman’s garage. Cpl. Michaud arrived on scene first and found the woman was delusional and there was no one breaking into her garage and not even any fresh tracks in the snow.

Thursday, March 24

Cpl. Quint conducted a motor vehicle stop for an expired inspection sticker in Mars Hill. The male operator could not provide a driver’s license. Cpl. Quint learned that the operator’s license was under suspension and he could not provide evidence of insurance. Cpl. Quint summoned the man for operating after suspension, failure to provide evidence of insurance, and displaying an expired inspection sticker.

Saturday, March 26

Tr. Sylvia summoned a 21-year-old Mars Hill man for criminal speed on Route 1 in Monticello for doing 96 in a 55 mph zone and a short time later summoned another operator for going 55 in a 30 mph zone in Monticello.
Troopers Stoutamyer, Casavant, Sylvia, Darcie and Sgt. Haines conducted an OUI checkpoint on Route 1 in Blaine. Over 40 vehicles were checked in a little over an hour and a half. A 24-year-old Patten man returning to college was charged with possession of marijuana, another operator was given a sobriety test and several others warned for traffic violations.
Tr. Casavant was called out when an off duty Ashland Officer reported coming across a vehicle broken down in Mapleton. One occupant was believed to have illegal prescription pills and another was on bail and intoxicated. The pills were identified as caffeine pills and the man on bail was found not to be under the influence.
