Presque Isle High School winter sports awards presented during ceremony

    PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle High School’s winter athletic awards were presented March 16, with participants in cheering, swimming, skiing, hockey and basketball all being honored.
Coaches met with their respective teams as part of the evening, which also included the presentation of league all-star and all-academic awards and a slide show highlighting photos taken of all the teams throughout the season.
Special awards were also given out. Gannon Therrien, who earned a total of six varsity letters in golf and skiing, was presented a sweatshirt. Student-athletes receiving four letters in the same sport receive jackets, and recipients were Tyler Ayotte (Wildcat mascot), Jillian Flynn (hockey), Cooper Madore (hockey), Regan Nelson (basketball), Bryce Smith (skiing), Alyssa Sweeney (skiing) and Therrien (skiing).
Seven other four-year letter winners this winter had already received their jacket in a fall sport. They were Madison Bagley, Michelle Cawley, Lindsey Lagerstrom, Alexandra Michaud and Kellsey Michaud (all in winter cheering), Emily Colligan (cross country) and Taylor Williams (basketball).
Jenna Bradstreet, coach of the varsity cheering squad, handed out certificates to freshmen Miranda Drost and Emma Kohlbacher, first-year letters to sophomores Jessica Boucher and Kiara Lyford and junior Ashley Turner; second-year letters to juniors Justine LaBier and Victoria Williamson; and fourth-year letters to seniors Madison Bagley, Michelle Cawley, Lindsey Lagerstrom, Alexandra Michaud and Kellsey Michaud.
Erica Hemphill, a coach for the Carlisle co-op swim team, gave out second-year letters to PIHS sophomore swimmers Libbee Currie, Elizabeth Deschenes and Maddie Wing and a third-year letter to junior Leigh Buck.
Nordic ski coach Von Perry presented first-year letters to freshmen Garrett Morneault and Tommy Popov and sophomore Ande Kornachuk; second-year letters to sophomore Isabelle Jackson and Max Bartley, junior Tori Koch and seniors Alisa Brewer, Mandy Graham and Kerrigan LeBlanc; and a fourth-year letter to senior Emily Colligan.
Scott Smith, coach of the alpine ski team, awarded certificates to freshmen Zechariah Morse and Seth Roy and sophomores Taylor Billings and McKenzie Turner; first-year letters to freshmen Sheridan Boucher, Eleanor St. Peter and Kyler Caron; sophomores Natalie Bates and Camille Canty and junior Josiah Morse; second-year letters to sophomore Chandler Paradis, juniors Lydia Patterson and Grace Player and senior Michael Mahon; third-year letters to juniors Nick Bartlett and John Saucier and senior Sam Gray; and fourth-year letters to seniors Alyssa Sweeney, Bryce Smith and Gannon Therrien.
Hockey team members were honored by coach Carl Flynn and assistant Darren Carlisle. Freshman Andre Daigle earned a certificate, while first-year letters went to freshmen Riley Kinney, Torey Levesque, Thomas Patenaude, Jake Stevens, Jaren Winger and Bailey York; junior manager Alaina Sweetser and seniors Noah Kinney and Brycen Libby. Earning second-year letters were sophomores Eric Benson and Colin Daigle, junior Alex Brewer and senior Jack Andrus. Jillian Flynn and Cooper Madore, both seniors, claimed fourth-year letters.
JV II basketball coach David Whitaker presented certificates to freshmen Mark Graves, Andrew Hewitt, Jacob Martin, Nagoo Morey, Cole Paterson, Chase Quirion, Iffy Sargent and Jacob Sjoberg and sophomores Jack Beaulieu, Dylan Bonville, Sam Hebert and Cameron Lahey.
Tim McCue, who coaches the girls’ JV basketball team, gave certificates to freshmen Grace Bemis, Elizabeth Collins, Casey Estabrook, Kamryn Gilmour, Madison Jandreau, Molly Kingsbury, Madison Michaud, Lydia Miller, Sydney Thompson and manager Sydney Durepo; sophomores Jaida Beaulieu, Meg Butler, Ellie Goheen, Kasey Haley and manager Brianne Savoy; and junior Abby Schools.
The coach of the boys’ JV basketball team, Ron McAtee, presented certificates to freshmen William Bridges, Trace Cyr, Carter Rice and manager Libby Boone; sophomores Jack Bonville, Jordan Bonville, R.J. Gross, Adam Paterson and manager Emma Willett; and juniors Patrick Cash, Jake Kinney, David Kofstad and Chan Villatora.
Girls’ varsity head coach Jeff Hudson and assistant coach Ralph Michaud handed out certificates to freshmen Molly Kingsbury and Madison Michaud, sophomores Kasey Haley and Chrissy Skidgel and junior managers Macy Pyres and Destiny Saucier; first-year letters to freshman Savannah Rodriguez, juniors Meg Boone and Skylar Vogel; and senior manager Michaela Dumais; a second-year letter to sophomore Emily Wheaton; third-year letters to junior Emily Lagerstrom and senior Olivia Hudson; and fourth-year letters to seniors Regan Nelson and Taylor Williams.
Members of the boys’ varsity basketball team, under head coach Terry Cummings and assistant coach Greg Whitaker, were also cited for their participation this winter. Freshmen Trace Cyr and manager Drew Cameron received certificates, as did sophomores Ryle Mortland and Adam Paterson and juniors Jake Kinney, Marcus Ouellette and manager Grant Bridges. Earning first-year letters were freshmen Jason Dumais and Jonah Hudson, juniors Bradley Kinney, Grant Stewart and manager Madison Fournier; and seniors Caleb Nadeau and manager Hailey Cameron. Second-year letters went to sophomores Griffin Guerrette and Randon Mortland and seniors Connor Murchison and Kyle Rider.
