Shires win Harbor House crown for second year

 BAR HARBOR, Maine — The Houlton varsity girls undergrad team won the Harbor House tournament on Mount Desert Island March 19-20, 2016. It marks the second consecutive year that the Shires have won the tournament.

Houlton got things started with a 56-48 win over Bangor, then followed with a 62-42 win over Camden Hills. Houlton next beat Lawrence, 47-34 to advance to the championship of the South bracket.

In the regional title, the Shires again faced Lawrence, this time beating them 36-22.

In the championship game, Houlton rallied to beat Hampden Academy 62-60 in a thrilling game.

“All of the seven girls played extremely well as a team and the five games they played were all against class A or AA competition,” said coach Rob Moran.
