Blaine man sentenced to 15 years
for transporting child pornography
BANGOR, Maine — A Blaine man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for transporting child pornography during a hearing Monday in U.S. District Court.
Robert Kinney Jr., 41, also was ordered to undergo 15 years of supervised release upon completion of his prison term and to pay $6,000 in restitution.
Kinney pleaded guilty to the charge on Sept. 2 of last year.
According to court records, Kinney emailed at least nine videos and 15 images of child pornography as he traded with others over the internet in August of 2014.
Kinney’s trade in child pornography supported, and was supported by, his personal collection of images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of young children.
In announcing the sentence, Judge John Woodcock described Kinney’s conduct as “chilling to any parent, grandparent or anyone who cares about children.”
The investigation that led to Kinney’s conviction was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the Maine State Police.
