MH man arrested after scuffle with state police

MARS HILL, Maine A Mars Hill man was arrested early Sunday morning after Maine State Police were called to a Silver Street residence for a report that a local man wanted on a warrant was there.

Arthur Gray, 25, is charged with violating his bail, possession of scheduled drugs, refusing to submit arrest and assault, Sgt. Joshua Haines said in a news release.
The incident that led to Gray’s arrest began around 12:05 a.m., Haines said. He said that after Cpl. Chuck Michaud and Trooper Nick Casavant confirmed that Gray was wanted, they entered the residence at the request of the homeowner and made contact with Gray.
Haines said that Gray appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants and refused to submit to arrest. A struggle ensued during which Gray allegedly kicked and swung at the two officers.
Gray then was taken into custody. Gray, who suffered minor facial injuries in the scuffle, was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital for treatment and then to Aroostook County Jail.
Michaud and Casavant suffered minor hand injuries in the struggle, Haines said.
