Easton girl to skate with Stars on Ice

 EASTON NEWS

A local skater will soon be performing in the upcoming Stars on Ice Tour, taking place at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland on Sunday, April 17, 2016.

Katelyn White, the daughter of Bruce and Elaine White, is 16 years old and a sophomore honor student at Easton Junior-Senior High School. She has been figure skating with the Northern Maine Figure Skating Club for 11 years.

She passed her Intermediate Moves in the Field this February and hopes to test her Pre-Silver/Silver Dances in Boston in the spring. She continues to work on her axel and layback spin in Juvenile Freestyle. White was very excited to also become a Junior Coach this season as she loves working with the Basic Skills skaters.
In addition to skating, she is very involved with the Easton school’s music and theater programs. She also takes part in Northern Lights Youth Choir and Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp. White’s local coaches at the NMFSC are Haley Kelley and Katie Griffin.
This is the third year, U.S. Figure Skating has partnered with Stars on Ice to offer a club program exclusive to U.S. Figure Skating members. The 2016 Stars on Ice Tour features an amazing array of skaters this season. Olympic Gold Medalists Meryl Davis and Charlie White head up an incredible collection of superstars including Ashley Wagner, Gracie Gold, Jeremy Abbott and others in this spectacular show.
In addition to skating in the show, White will receive a ticket to the show, a souvenir program, the opportunity to meet with cast members prior to the show and a commemorative tour apparel item. She has also had the opportunity to practice with a Maine coach and a coach from Stars on Ice.
