CARIBOU  — Glenda Smith, 89, wife of the late Donald Smith went to her heavenly home April 6, 2016, in Van Buren. She was born in Caribou, January 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Luther and Eleanor (Smith) Hewitt. She was a graduate of Caribou High School and she married Donald Smith, November 10, 1948. She and Don made their home on the New Sweden Road where they raised potatoes and ran a dairy farm. Glenda loved horses and was an avid horse rider. She truly enjoyed fishing and  spending time with family and friends at the family camp “Hi-Lo” at Madawaska Lake. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Caribou Assembly of God. 

She is survived by two sons; Wayne Smith and wife, Patty, of Woodland and Donald Smith Jr. and wife, Hollis, of Monmouth; one daughter, Donna Hale and husband, Tom, of Westmanland; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Smith of Woodland and a son-in-law, Bob Brown of Searsport; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husband Donald in 2013, her son, Darrell Smith, her daughter, Carla Brown; three brothers, Floyd, Ervin, Jerry; and two sisters, Phyllis Pillsbury, and her twin sister, Glenna Langley. 

Friends visited with the family 1-2 p.m, Saturday April 9 at the Caribou Assembly of God where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Don Owen officiating. Interment will be later in the spring at the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mrs. Smith may do so through WFST Radio P.O. Box 600 Caribou Me. 04736.
