First stop will be in Houlton
PRESQUE ISLE — United Way of Aroostook has announced the inaugural Live United Auto Rally 2016 to highlight the United Way’s commitment to all of The County.
This 120-mile rally is slated for Saturday, June 4, and will run from York’s of Houlton up to Valley Motors in Fort Kent, with stops at Percy’s Auto Sales in Presque Isle and Griffeth Ford Lincoln in Caribou.
Luke Rossignol, campaign chair, is eager for the United Way to partner with the car enthusiast community in raising awareness of the county wide involvement and raising funds to help support the United Way and its agency partners.
“I know that the car enthusiast community is made up of wonderful and generous people,” Rossignol said. “These supporters, along with our major sponsors, Pelletier Motors, Percy’s Auto Sales, Griffeth Ford Lincoln, York’s of Houlton, KeyBank, Cary Medical Center and Pines Health Center, will make this a successful fundraising event for the United Way. It will also be an exciting and fun event for the rally participants, families and the public.”
The rally will begin at York’s of Houlton at 9 a.m., with registration opening at 8:30. This will be a fun “cars and coffee” type event. Participants will leave York’s at 10:30 and travel to Percy’s Auto Sales in Presque Isle for a light lunch and other family-friendly activities. All will then motor to Griffeth Ford Lincoln in Caribou, scheduled to arrive around 2 p.m., for a community ice cream social. The rally will leave Griffeth Ford Lincoln at 3:30 and travel through Van Buren and Madawaska to make a grand finish at Valley Motors in Fort Kent at 5 p.m.
Festivities in Fort Kent will include music, food and fun as families and participants gather to celebrate the “Rally in the Valley” leg of the experience.
Sherry Locke, executive director of the United Way, said, “We are excited about branching out with a new ‘FUNdraiser’ that stretches across Aroostook County and involves a new group of supporters. The Rally promises to be a fun time for all and really showcase the entire county. We have a lot of great cars supporting a great cause.”
The registration fee for the event is $50 and all proceeds will go to the United Way of Aroostook and support the people of Aroostook County. Preregistration forms are available on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/unitedwayaroostook, and are also available at the United Way office at the Aroostook Centre Mall or by calling the United Way office at 764-5197.
