The first International Fellowship of Chaplain training is being held in Presque Isle from June 20-24, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Family Christian Center, located at 112 Caribou Road, according to local host Robin Beckwith.
The mission of the IFOC is to train chaplains who can provide meaningful, life-changing service to the communities in which they live through involvement in every sector of community life, be it health and welfare, education, transitional living, emergency service and governmental support.
Some of the training includes, but is not limited to: Chaplaincy and the Law, Stress Management, Critical Incident Stress Management, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Trauma, Grief and Loss, Death Notification, Depression/Suicidology, Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking and Disaster Preparedness.
According to Chaplain Judy Vorce from IFOC, the training is open to anyone who has a heart to help people. She states that former students have commented that this training was so much more than what they had expected. She is married to Senior Chaplain Dr. David C. Vorce, Major General of the International Fellowship of Chaplains, Inc. and this organization has been in existence for over 25 years.
The IFOC is a non-profit organization, training and credentialing chaplains worldwide to bridge the gap between the secular and ministry world. IFOC prepares professional, trained and dedicated chaplains in various areas such as disaster response, fire, police, prison/jail, schools, sports, trauma/grief and loss, hospital, military and other areas.
