Catholic Women

The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met in the parish center on April 4 for their monthly meeting. Prayers were said with Jane Stile saying a prayer and blessing for our luncheon. Fourteen members were present along with our moderator, Father David Raymond.

Following the luncheon of sweets and cheese and crackers, President Sue Hardy conducted the meeting. Recording Secretary Tammy Blanchette read the minutes from the March meeting. Treasurer Mary Grant gave the treasurer’s report. Corresponding Secretary Alta Reardon read several thank-you cards. Sue Hardy has mailed the lip balm that was collected for our troops.

A box will be placed in the back of the church to collect baby items for the Pregnancy Care Center. Some members brought baby gifts to the meeting.

We will have our annual banquet on Monday, June 6. Ethel Mersereau will check on various possibilities. Sue Hardy discussed the annual fall rummage sale. There will be planning meetings during the summer to get ready for this event.

Birthdays and anniversaries were noted. Prayer requests were received and a decade of the Rosary was recited. The door prize was won by Kathy Klein.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, May 2, at 6 p.m. in the parish center. All Catholic ladies are invited to attend.
