NEW LIMERICK — Ronald F. Allen, Sr., 73, died April 14, 2016 at his home. He was born December 7, 1942 in San Antonio, TX, the son of Ralph “Babe” & Marguerite (Roach) Allen. He grew up in Oakfield, married Monique Cyr in 1961 and moved to Connecticut where he worked for many years as a diesel and refrigeration mechanic also known as “Dr. Diesel.” Ron moved back to Maine when he retired and enjoyed restoring old tractors, gardening and making maple syrup. He was an animal lover who adopted pets and donated regularly to animal shelters.
He is survived by daughters, Janet Allen and her significant other, Richard Treadway of Oakdale, CT and Deborah Allen and her fiance, Dwayne Reynolds of Oakdale, CT; son, Ronald Allen, Jr.. daughter-in-law, Janine Allen and grandson, Brett Allen of Canterbury, CT; brother, Ross Allen and sister-in-law, Diane Allen of Aberdeen, MD; brother, Dennis Allen and nephew, Rodney Allen of Greenfield, MA; a niece, Karie L. Kennedy of Cape Elizabeth, ME; nephew, Shawn Kennedy of Palm Springs, CA; his beloved dogs, Nikki and Chloe; his significant other, Donna Perry of New Limerick; extended family and special friends, John Donahue, Jeannie Goodall, Clayton & Edna Reid and several cousins. Ron is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Alice M. Kennedy.
Friends may call 11-1, Monday, April 18th at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St. Houlton, ME where funeral services was held at 1 pm. Spring interment will be at Oakfield Cemetery.
