In what turned out to be the only game played in Aroostook County Friday due to field conditions, Hodgdon’s softball squad, under the guidance of Sarah Williams, dominated Woodland 23-3.
Junior Taylor Desrosiers had 14 strikeouts to lead the Hawks from inside the pitching circle.
Desrosiers helped her cause at the plate as she contributed two singles and one double, while Sidney Crane also had two singles and a double. Grace Graham added one single and a double. Jesse Drew, Janelle Goff, Tabetha Ganzel, Kendra Gresko and Megan Russell all chipped in with base hits.
Woodland had five singles and a triple.
The Hawks baseball team secured a 6-2 win over the Dragons. Ben Tuttle pitched six solid innings, allowing no runs with nine strikeouts. Woodland only scored after Tuttle left the mound.
His brother Matt Tuttle led the Hodgdon offense by reaching base safely four times and scoring twice. Also scoring runs for the Hawks were Wyatt Foster, Andrew Tuttle, Sam Horton and Jimmy Buzzell.
For Woodland Drew Hayward tossed five strong innings, but some errors behind him allowed the Hawks to take the lead in the third inning. Hayward helped his own cause by reaching base safely twice and scoring a run, Windsor Brooks was able to reach base safely three times and score the only other run for Woodland.
