FALLBROOK, CA, MARS HILL & EASTON, ME – Rita June Field, 81, passed away on Feb. 26, 2016, after a fall at her home. She was born in Mars Hill on Aug. 14, 1934, to the late Alfred W. and Mable (Sherwood) Field. She graduated from Easton High School in 1953.
June enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corps in 1954 thru 1957. She was promoted to Corporal in 1956. Stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. She worked from 1958-1985 and retired after 27 years of employment with “Sav-On-Drugs”.
June had a special friend, Judy Blakeslee and family in California. June was a skilled athlete, excelling in basketball, softball and running. Hiking and backpacking became a second love for June and Judy especially in the High Sierras above Yosemite.
June was predeceased by her parents, as well as four brothers, Alfred J., Herald J., Raymond J. and Jack J.; and two sisters, Patience B. Clark and Anna M. Livingston.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Hope Field of Mars Hill and Leola Field of Presque Isle; as well as several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
She was a Mainer at heart who loved her trips home to visit family and as she said to rejuvenate her soul. The chance to have real lobster and bean suppers certainly helped.
At her wishes, no services will be held.
