Market season begins
Area’s newest opens May 18
FORT FAIRFIELD — The newly formed Fort Fairfield Farmers Market Association begins its first market season on Wednesday, May 18, from 2-6 p.m. in downtown Fort Fairfield.
The market site is in a town-owned lot between Katahdin Trust Bank and Acadia Medical Supply. Signs will be posted at the intersection of Presque Isle and Main streets to direct those attending to the downtown lot.
Organizers hope to make shoppers’ afternoon midweek shopping a little more interesting by offering a variety of local farm products. The midweek market will have pork products, eggs, seasonal vegetables, herbs, flowers, bedding plants, fresh bread and baked goods, handmade jewelry, packaged and fresh brewed coffee from 10 vendors.
The open-air market will be open every Wednesday, 2-6 p.m., from mid-May to mid-October.
Planners are looking for interested farm and arts and crafts vendors with locally produced and handcrafted items to join their ranks. Full membership is $50 for the entire season.
