Wednesday, April 27

LIMESTONE: Building Body Stability exercise class for seniors, 10-11 a.m. at the Robert A. Frost Memorial Library. Teacher: Julie French. Cost: $6/lesson.

Saturday, April 30

EASTON: Launch Day at the Francis Malcolm Science Center, to celebrate the new digital projection system. Demonstrations every 30 minutes, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Check presentation at 11:45 and model rocket launching at 12 noon. FMI: Call the center at 488-5451.

LIMESTONE: Semi-annual book sale at the Robert A. Frost Memorial Library, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. One day only. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library. FMI: 325-4706.

PRESQUE ISLE: UMPI’s University Players will host a talent show at 7 p.m. in Wieden Auditorium for local kids and college students. Signup deadline is Friday, April 22. Entrance fee: $10. Four age divisions: grades 1-4, 4-8, 8-12 and college. Email  darci.faye@maine.edu for an application. Tickets $5 at the door. 

Sunday, May 1

WOODLAND: Beltane celebration hosted by Northern Maine Pagan Pride Association, starting at 10 a.m. Free; all are welcome. Prayer ritual, Maypole, potluck meal and bonfire. FMI: Sherri Arey, 325-1481, or Barb Hull, 999-9808.

PRESQUE ISLE: Safe Homes 5K run/walk, beginning at UMPI’s Gentile Hall. Hosted by Safe Homes Aroostook. Registration starts at noon and the race at 1 p.m. Activities offered for kids. Cost: $20 per person. FMI or to preregister, visit safehomesaroostook.org.

PRESQUE ISLE: Northern Maine Chamber Society spring concert at UMPI’s Campus Center, 3 p.m.

CARIBOU: Marko the Magician at 7 p.m. at the Caribou Performing Arts Center, sponsored by the Caribou High School Class of 2018. Proceeds to benefit senior year activities. Tickets are $20 each. FMI: 493-4260.  

PRESQUE ISLE: Opening reception at UMPI’s Reed Fine Art Gallery, 5-7 p.m., for “Plein Air Painters of Maine.” Gallery talk at 5:30; light refreshments. Free and open to public. Exhibit runs May 2-June 19, featuring works painted under the open sky.

PRESQUE ISLE: Opening reception in UMPI’s Pullen Gallery for Emma Ruff’s senior show. Gallery talk at 6:30; free and open to public. Exhibit runs May 6-11.
