Students douse themselves in color

HODGDON, Maine — The students of Hodgdon High School will walk, jog, and run their way toward a healthier life while raising funds for their school as part of a new program called “My School Color Run.”

The program aims to go beyond traditional fundraising, according to Anita Levesque, organizer.

“Rather than sell goods, this program aims to engage the entire student body in a fitness initiative that aims to instill a lifelong healthy way of living,” she said. “We’re extremely excited about the launch of the My School Color Run Program at our school. We’re looking forward to involving our entire student body and faculty in a fun and healthy program. We want to engage the entire community and encourage local businesses and individual community members to get involved.”

The 5K color run will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 8 a.m. starting at the Houlton Recreation Center and will be open to the public. This is an untimed fun run. Racers will pass through several color stations throughout the course and end with a color toss.

The fee for early registration is $35 and after May 11 the fee is $45. Interested participants can register for the run by visiting www.HodgdonColorRun.eventbrite.com or by completing a paper registration form prior to the event. Those forms can be found at Hodgdon High School.
