UMPI hosts spring management class
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Employer U, a program focused on providing workforce development opportunities for the region, will offer one course this spring beginning Monday, May 9, as part of its American Management Association’s certificate program. The course registration deadline is May 5, 2016.
The course Planning and Managing Change will be held from May 9-June 13 from 5 to 8:15 p.m. in the Campus Center, Alumni Room. All classes will be held on Mondays, except for Tuesday, May 31, due to the Memorial Day holiday.
Paricipants will gain skills to plan and manage every aspect of the organizational change process, such as diagnosing the impact of change, determining key success factors for change effectiveness, understanding the human dynamics involved in change, and fostering adaptability. Cara Miller, owner of Simply Abundant Life, will lead the course.
The class is part of a nationally-recognized, multi-course curriculum leading to Certificates in General Management and Human Resources, and is specifically created to meet the unique needs of working professionals who want to be more effective in their current positions and better prepared for future advancement, according to Kim Jones, campus AMA coordinator and Employer U program director.
By meeting in a classroom setting with other managers from many different organizations, students are able to see how other companies handle problems similar to their own. Instructors with extensive business experience and excellent teaching skills facilitate the courses.
This course is worth 2 CEUs (continuing education units). Ten CEUs are required to complete a certificate program. Courses may be taken in any order and there is no time limit for completion of the program. Courses also can be offered on-site.
The cost is $300 and includes instruction, text and materials. To register, visitgoo.gl/forms/U3VZz7R13E. For more information, contact Jones at 768-9433 or kim
