Annual DAV meeting held at NMCC
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 10 recently held their annual meeting at Northern Maine Community College, in which members of the organization were invited to hear speeches from legislative representatives, participate in an auction, and learn about how they can receive financial assistance for their disabilities or for the passing of a spouse who served in the military.
Kim Rohn presented a flag flown over the nation’s capital on behalf of Representative Bruce Poliquin, in honor of disabled American veterans in Aroostook County.
Phil Bosse, representing Senator Susan Collins, also attended the event and spoke of Project ARCH (Access Received Closer to Home), which will connect area veterans to local health care services. Ideally, Project ARCH will minimize the distance that disabled veterans, and their family members, need to drive in order to receive medical care.
DAV Adjutant and Service Officer Jim S. Gehring gave a speech about health care for veterans, stressing the importance of planning ahead in the event of a medical emergency.
