BOIS, Claudette Aldea Boyer, 80, PRESQUE ISLE, April 26, 2016. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

PRESQUE ISLE – Claudette Aldea Boyer Bois passed away peacefully April 26, 2016, at The Aroostook Medical Center. She was born December 20, 1935, in Ottawa, Ontario, to Charles Boyer and Lucienne Perrier Boyer.
She married Raoul Bois on August 13, 1955, and moved to Presque Isle in 1961 where they lived together until Raoul’s death in 1978.
Claudette was the typical homemaker of her day, but what was most memorable about her was how other children were always adopting her as their mother. She always made everyone feel at home and welcomed the army of people that were always parading through the house. Raoul loved a party and would invite everyone he met over for partridge stew, rabbit stew, deer steak – and usually gave Claudette very little notice. She would manage to pull a feast together in quick order anyway!
Whenever she was called to help out with a fundraiser or special event in the parish, she responded immediately with a YES and started cooking. Holidays were a special time, that’s when she pulled out all the stops and prepared delicacies reserved for that time of year. All the widows in the neighborhood were recipients of those special treats. And woe to anyone who managed to steal a sample!
Claudette volunteered for many years on St. Mary’s funeral luncheon committee, was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, attended PI Adult Ed’s knitting class, made angel baby blankets for baptisms, babysat children in her home and worked the harvest – while raising her own children. She was always very generous with everything she had and never turned anyone away. Even as her health was declining, she made baby blankets for her nurses who were expecting.
Claudette is survived by her three children: Stella Carlstrom of Presque Isle; Richard and Loriann Bois of West Chazy, NY (their children Beth and Lawson Fowble, NY, Jessica and Jamieson Hutton, CO, Nicole and fiancé, Adam Taft, NY); and Lynn and James Arculeo of Bethlehem, PA (their daughter, Brittany and Jesse Stein, PA); and four great-grandchildren: Jaina, Gwynn, and Briar Fowble, and Archer Stein; siblings: Lucille and Donald Campbell, Lucien Boyer, Jeanne Boyer, Rochelle and Robert Provencher, and Jacquie and Winston Booth, all of Canada; two sisters-in-law, Sr. Gilberte Bois and Marcella Bois of NB; special friends, Arthur and Cecile Wood of Presque Isle, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; son-in-law, Marshal (Mort) Carlstrom; and a brother, Roger Boyer.
The family wishes to thank Mary Coffin FNP, Dr. Nancy O’Neil, PHN Val Theriault, RN and the staff at TAMC for their outstanding care of our mother. She very much appreciated your efforts to give her the best quality of life.
Per Claudette’s request, there were no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial was held at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Mary’s church in Presque Isle at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 30. Burial took place at the Grand Falls Cemetery, Grand Falls, NB, Monday, 11 a.m., May 2.
Donations may be made to C.A.N.C.E.R. Care of Aroostook or to Parish of the Precious Blood Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 625, Caribou, ME 04736, in Claudette’s name. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.duncan-graves.com.
