STEVENS, Hazen L., 71, MASARDIS, at Bangor, April 24, 2016. Arrangements are under the care of Lajoie Funeral Home, Madawaska.
MASARDIS – Hazen L. Stevens, 71, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, at a Bangor hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 15, 1944, in Masardis, a son of the late Aubrey and Martha (Keene) Stevens.
Hazen last worked for W.T. Logging of Lincoln and had previously worked with Great Northern Paper Company, Portage. He had an obvious passion working the heavy equipment and took great pride in his work. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but he was most often seen splitting and cording firewood for his home and that of his neighbors. He would tackle any home improvement project, and was never happier than when he had such a project ahead of him.
He is survived by his two sons, Aubrey Stevens and his wife, Kathy of Peachtree City, GA, and Jeffrey Stevens and his wife, Marcy of Morrow, GA; their mother, Connie (Howes) Stevens; his long-time love and companion, Jeanie St. Pierre; three brothers, Phillip Stevens and his wife, Joan of Hominy, OK, Richard Stevens and his wife, Joan, and Raymond Stevens, all of Presque Isle; and his beloved dog, Angel. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, Brandon, Austyn, Jacob, Bryce, Cole, Mariah and Blake; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Hazen was predeceased by an infant sister, Carol Mae Stevens.
A funeral service was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Union Congregational Church, Sheridan Rd., Ashland, with Pastor Nathan Gardiner officiating. Relatives and friends greeted the family Saturday morning 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial was held 1 p.m. Sunday at Masardis Municipal Cemetery.
