Dog found dead in PI
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Central Aroostook Humane Society and local animal control officer are trying to figure out what happened to a dead dog left near Arnold Brook Lake.
Children playing outside near the lake last Tuesday discovered the body of an emaciated, mostly bald dog wrapped in a blanket, said Betsy Hallett, manager of the Central Aroostook Humane Society.
“He appears to be a border collie mix and approximately 8 years old,” Hallett said. He seemed to have a “serious skin” condition that left much of his body bald, as well as a wound on a front elbow.
The humane society and the local authorities are now trying to find out what happened.
“There has not been any necropsy done. If we could find out who owned the dog, then we could find out what the cause of death was,” Hallett said. “Somebody out there knows why this dog was in that state.”
Photos showing the dog, which had black and white fur on its face, were posted on the humane society’s Facebook page. Hallett asked that anyone who might know about the dog reach out to her 768-1361 or centralaroostookhs@hotmail.com.
