The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to the following incidents from Monday, April 25 to Sunday, May 1.
Monday, April 25
While driving on Interstate 95 in his marked cruiser, Trooper Sucy was passing a vehicle and observed a 21-year-old female holding her cellular phone to the top of her steering wheel texting. Trooper Sucy stopped the woman and she admitted she was texting and driving. The woman was issued a summons for the violation.
Trooper Saucier got a lead on a stolen firearm case from July 2015 and as a result was able to recover the firearm and interview the suspect who was incarcerated in Houlton on another matter. The man confessed to taking the gun and was charged with Class B theft and where he was already a felon also charged with Class C possession by a prohibited person.
Wednesday, April 27
Cpl. Michaud and Trooper Pescitelli arrested a 29-year-old Woodland man on three outstanding warrants after doing a warrant search for the town of Woodland. The man was arrested at his place of employment without incident and transported to Houlton.
Trooper Casavant charged a 35-year-old Presque Isle man for several violations after stopping him for towing a trailer with a small SUV loaded with a pickup and other scrap metal. The vehicle fenders were rubbing on the tire and spare tire was rubbing on the ground. Trooper Flynn responded and the 6,000 pound registered vehicle was weighed out at 14,000 pounds with its trailer and load. The trailer was not inspected and Tr. Casavant observed several safety violations on the vehicle and trailer. The operator was issued several summonses and the trailer towed from the scene with a wrecker.
Cpl. Michaud and Trooper Pescitelli investigated a possible vehicle theft in Allagash where a family member initially consented to allowing the grandson to use the vehicle then changed her mind and told him no. The grandson traveled to New Hampshire with the vehicle anyway. The case remains under investigation for potential charges.
Saturday, April 30
Trooper Endre stopped a motor vehicle on Route 1 in Monticello for speeding. One of the passengers was on bail with search and test as a condition. After a PBT and a urine test, the male subject was arrested for violating conditions of release. The tests showed positive for alcohol, methamphetamine, and marijuana. This is the second time in three weeks that Trooper Endre has arrested the same subject for violating conditions of release.
