Caribou boys and girls tennis teams remain untested through four matches

Class B Boys ranked 3rd in Heal Point standings, girls 4th

Through four matches, both the Caribou girls and boys tennis teams were sporting a perfect record on the season.

In fact, the Vikings had dropped just one individual match heading into yesterday’s home match against Presque Isle.

The Vikings improved their marks to 4-0 after dispatching of both Houlton and Fort Kent in home matches last week.

The Caribou girls blanked both the Shiretowners (last Tuesday) and the Warriors (Friday) by scores of 5-0. Gabrielle Marquis, Conner Spencer and Ashley Matlock were victorious in singles matches and did so in dominating fashion.

The doubles combinations of Ciara Richards-Danielle Hanson and Hailey Holmquist-Kyra Thibeault were equally impressive in their two wins.

The Vikings boys also shut out Houlton, 5-0, while also stopping Fort Kent, 4-1. The win over the Shires included singles wins by Alec Cyr, Ethan Plourde and Emerson Duplissie-Cyr and doubles victories by Austin Scott-Gabe Rand and Austin Cheplic-Bailey Griffeth.

The Warriors were able to come up with a win in first singles Friday as Ryan Chasse doubled up on Cyr, 8-4, but all of Caribou’s other entries prevailed.

With their unblemished records, the Caribou boys were ranked third in the Heal Point standings for Class B North, while the girls were No. 4 in rankings compiled as of Monday.

The Vikes are at Madawaska this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. and then host Washington Academy of East Machias Saturday at 1 p.m.
