The first local track and field meet this season is set for Friday afternoon, May 6, 2016, at the Johnson Athletic Complex in Presque Isle. The competition will begin at 3:30 p.m., with Caribou, Fort Fairfield, Fort Kent, Houlton, LCS/MSSM and Washburn all expected to compete along with the host Wildcats.

Athletes from Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield and Washburn competed at Foxcroft Academy Saturday afternoon. The Wildcat girls scored the team victory with 111 points, finishing ahead of nine other teams. The Tigers compiled 50 points, good for sixth overall, and the Beavers managed six points.
For boys, Fort Fairfield came in second place with 78, with Foxcroft taking the title with 184. PI notched 69 points to grab the third position, while Washburn had 33 to place sixth out of 12 teams.
Local first-place finishers in the girls’ meet included Jaydyn Fox of Fort Fairfield in the 100-meter hurdles (18.55 seconds) and the triple jump (29 feet, 8 inches), Tori Koch of PI in the 100-meter dash (13.38 seconds), Maddy Wing of PI in the 1,600-meter racewalk (10:48.43) and Marissa Brouette of FF in the pole vault (7 feet, 6 inches).
Placing second in individual events were Kamryn Gilmour of PI in the racewalk (11:22.55), Eleanor St. Peter of PI in the 400-meter dash (1:12.72), Isabelle Jackson of PI in the 800-meter run (2:50.93), Lillian Ashby of FF in the long jump (13 feet, 8 inches) and the triple jump (28 feet, 9 inches) and Regan Nelson of PI in the javelin (88 feet, 6 inches) and the shot put (33 feet, 4-¼ inches).
Coming in third were Elizabeth Findlen of PI in the 100-meter hurdles (20.57 seconds), Koch in the 200 (29.6 seconds) and Nelson in the discus (95 feet, 6 inches).
On the boys’ side, picking up individual victories were Jonah Daigle of Fort Fairfield in the 300-meter hurdles (44.22 seconds), Lance McKenney of FF in the 800-meter run (2:10.52) and Jovanni Tavares of Washburn in the javelin (138 feet, 11 inches).
Claiming runner-up honors were Daigle in the 110-meter hurdles (17.35 seconds), Jonah Clark of PI in the 1,600-meter racewalk (11:22.58), Colin Goshorn of FF in the 300-meter hurdles (46.41 seconds) and the discus (102 feet, 4 inches) and Jason Bartley of PI in the 3,200-meter run (10:49.85).
Third-place finishers were Goshorn in the 110-meter hurdles (17.36 seconds) and the pole vault (10 feet), Chan Villatora of PI in the 100-meter dash (12 seconds), Seth Roy of PI in the 1,600-meter racewalk (12:26.98), Trace Cyr of PI in the 400-meter dash (56.67 seconds) and Connor Murchison of PI in the high jump (5 feet, 8 inches).
Three local relay teams also took second place on Saturday. Presque Isle, whose 4×800-meter relay team was made up of Dustin Alward, Max Bartley, Zachariah Morse and Cyr, had a time of 9:56. Washburn’s 4×100 team of Taveras, Derek Baker, Noah Caron and Devon Maynard recorded a time of 50.45 seconds and the PI quartet of Jason Bartley, Kyler Caron, Murchison and Villatora finished the 4×400-meter relay in 3:53.4.
