Contributed photoHOULTON — In recognition of many hours and contributions devoted throughout the year by hospital volunteers, the Volunteer Department of Houlton Regional Hospital recently held its 31st annual Volunteer Luncheon.
The theme was “Giving Time Touching Hearts” and thanks for all you do over the past year. 10,727.25 hours have been donated by volunteers at the hospital, since its inception an amazing 335,037.25 hours have been donated.
There are currently 65 volunteers providing services at Houlton Regional Hospital with many departments utilizing their services. Some of the jobs are running up sales in the HRH gift shops, spending quality time with patients, reading to patients, as well as entertaining them. Other services include helping to put supplies away, assisting in laundry, as well as many clerical duties and special projects and greeting our patients and visitors at the information desk.
“Over the many years I have been the manager of our Volunteer Department, I have come to think of these individuals as more than volunteers, they are family,” said Patrice Hipsley-Lunnie.
“Their many duties keep our hospital humming as they play a very important role as part of our hospital family.”
Among the volunteers honored for their hours of service were Al McCluskey, 13,500; Gary Tidd, 10,500; Joan Logan, 9,800; Glynn Porter, 7,500; Rita McDade, 4,600; Arlene Bean, 3,500; Beverly Moody, 3,000; Virginia McLaughlin, 2,850; Fran Dunn, 2,700; Lois Jeffery, 2,100; Pat Chase, 1,800; Bill Dunn, 1,750; Helen Blois and Debbie Bell, 1,700; Donna Tracy, 1,550; Brenda Chambers, 1,500; Barbara Grant, 1,450; and Kelly Irish, 1,000.
