CARIBOU and LIMESTONE, Maine — Leadership students from the Loring Job Corps Center in Limestone recently came together in an effort to give back to the local community.
The group decided to help out at the Bread of Life Soup Kitchen in Caribou. As part of Global Youth Services Week, participants conducted a food and bottle drive in support of the soup kitchen, and also turned out in person to assist the kitchen with preparing and serving supper to the many members of the local community who look to the kitchen for a hot meal.
The students all completed the project on their free time. Those involved felt being part of the effort and giving back to those in need was well worth giving up some of their evening time.
Together the students raised enough from the bottle drive to support the purchase of everything needed for a spaghetti supper, and additionally collected over 250 pounds of much needed food for the kitchen.
